Question: What is the water temperature?
Answer: Water temperature at Drake Bay is always warm and the average temperature is 75 degrees Fahrenheit. The water is great for swimming, snorkeling, or scuba diving.

Question: What are the advantages of visiting at different times of the year?
Answer: We have only two seasons: the rainy season and the dry season. May through November is rainy (usually sunny in the morning and rainy in the late afternoon). There are advantages of going in the rainy season as well as the dry season. For instance, the rainy season is cooler, everything is greener, there are less people, and it is cheaper. December through April is the dry season and some advantages of going at this time are the guaranteed sunshine and virtually no rain.

Question: How long are the tours? At what time do they leave and return to the resort?
Answer: A typical tour lasts most of the day, but some can be arranged to be only half a day. Most tours leave at 7:00 a.m. and return at 4:00 p.m.

Question: Is it possible to plan tours in advance and, if so, is it necessary to do so.
Answer: Our tours are planned for the next day in the evening after dinner.

Question: How far is it to drive from San Jose to Drake Bay or just to Sierpe?
Answer: You can drive directly to Drake Bay from San Jose in about 8 hours or drive to Sierpe then take a 1 hour boat ride for the same amount of time. We recommend that you call us before you drive down.

Question: How far is it from San Jose to Pavas?
Answer: Pavas airport is located near San Jose, about 20 to 30 minutes.

Question: Are there bars in Drake Bay?
Answer: For guests who would like to go out for a drink, the resort bars do welcome visitors. There are also a few small cantinas in town and dances are often held on the weekends. The walk to town takes about 40 minutes.

Question: What should we pack for our trip?
Answer: There are some essential things that every traveler to Drake Bay should always pack, here are a few:
    Flashlight ("Mini-Mags" are small and they work great)
    Hiking boots or tennis shoes
    "Tevas" or sport sandals
    Insect repellant
    Sun block
    Binoculars
    Swimming suit
    Shorts
    Lightweight T-shirts
    One pair of long pants
    Hat
    Camera
